Why 3-on-3?

Play. Compete. Grow. Three-on-three puts every kid in the action — there's nowhere to hide on a full court with three players a side, and that's exactly the point.

3

Smaller Teams

With only three players on the floor, every player touches the ball, guards somebody, and matters on every possession.

∞

More Reps

More shots, more dribbles, more passes, more decisions per game than 5-on-5 — the fastest way for young players to actually improve.

1

Team, One Goal

Teamwork. Confidence. Character. Small teams build all three — kids learn to communicate, compete, and lift each other up.

How Registration Works

  1. Fill out the registration form for each player — formed-team players register individually too, so we have every shirt size and contact.
  2. We build the teams. Formed teams stay together; individual sign-ups are placed on a team in their division.
  3. Show up on Saturday and play. Rosters, coaches, and schedules are posted on the Teams page once teams are set.
Playing Rexburg Rec too? Go for it — RB3on3 doesn't run at the same time as the Rexburg Rec league, so your player can do both. Questions before you sign up? Email rb3on3@gmail.com or call 208-260-1381.

Team Pages

Every RB3on3 team gets its own page with its coach, team color, roster, and game line. The Boys Fall 2026 teams are set and posted below — Girls Winter teams form after registration closes on December 15.

Schedules

Every RB3on3 game is played on Saturdays in Rexburg. The boys game-day matchups are below — written by coach, with team numbers alongside — the weekly practice schedule follows, and each team page shows that team's own game line.

How 3-on-3 Works

RB3on3 is full-court basketball built for young players: small teams, constant action, and a whole lot of touches. Here's the format families can expect on game day.

The Format

  • CourtGames are played on the full court — with only three players a side, there's open floor everywhere and the action never stops.
  • On CourtThree players per team on the floor at a time.
  • RostersTeams stay small on purpose — with fewer players per team, everybody plays real minutes.
  • DivisionsPlayers in grades K–4 are generally grouped by grade. Divisions are formed after registration closes, based on how many players sign up and what's needed to form the league and its divisions — and some players or formed teams may play up a division.
  • Game DaysAll games are on Saturdays in Rexburg school gyms.

What It Teaches

  • TouchesEvery player handles the ball, shoots, passes, and defends — no standing in the corner watching.
  • DecisionsMore possessions per player means more reads, more moves, and faster basketball instincts.
  • TeamworkWith three a side, spacing, cutting, and talking on defense are the game.
  • CharacterOur league values: Teamwork. Confidence. Character. — and our promise: Play. Compete. Grow.
Good sportsmanship is the house rule. Players, coaches, and fans are expected to keep game days positive for K–4 kids — cheer hard, respect officials and opponents, and let the kids play. See the League Rules for the league's official policies; questions, email rb3on3@gmail.com.

League Rules

The official rules and policies of RB3on3 — how the league is organized, the game-play rules every team plays by, the conduct we expect on game day, and the waiver and refund terms families agree to at registration. New to the format? Start with How 3-on-3 Works.

League Format

  • Game3-on-3 basketball — smaller teams and more reps for every player.
  • PlayersBoys and girls in grades K–4. Players are generally grouped by grade, and divisions are formed after registration closes based on signups — grades and divisions may fluctuate depending on how many signups we get and what's needed to form the league and divisions. Some players or formed teams may play up a division.
  • Game DaysAll games are played on Saturdays.
  • GymsHibbard Elementary School in Rexburg — plus South Fork Elementary School as the second gym for the boys fall season.
  • Fee$60 per player, and it includes a team t-shirt.
  • Sign-UpsIndividual or formed team registrations accepted — and every player registers individually, even players on a formed team.

Sportsmanship & Conduct

  • RespectPlayers, coaches, and fans treat coaches, referees, teammates, and opponents with respect — on the court and in the stands.
  • PlayersPlay hard, play fair, and lift your teammates up. Winning matters less than how you compete.
  • FansCheer for the kids, let the coaches coach and the referees officiate, and keep game day positive for K–4 players.
  • RefereesArguing, shouting, hollering, or loudly disagreeing with the referee will not be tolerated — and neither will any other behavior offensive to the league, referees, or players. A coach, fan, or parent may be asked to leave if necessary, and if they don't leave when asked, their team may have to forfeit the game.
  • ValuesThe league runs on three values: Teamwork. Confidence. Character.

Registration Policies

These terms come straight from the RB3on3 registration form. A parent or guardian registers each player and agrees to them at sign-up.

Waiver & Liability

  • RiskPlaying basketball carries some physical risk, and families acknowledge that risk when they register.
  • InjuriesThe parent or guardian accepts responsibility for injuries that occur during practices or games.
  • ReleaseRegistration releases the RB3on3 director and committee, and Madison School District, from liability.
  • IllnessRegistration also includes a COVID-19 / infectious-disease assumption of risk: playing means contact with other players, coaches, referees, and fans, and families accept the exposure risk that comes with it.

Cancellations & Fees

  • WeatherIf games are cancelled due to school closures or bad weather, no refunds will be issued.
  • Late FeeA $10 late fee applies to late registrations.

Official Game-Play Rules

From the league's official RB3on3 League Rules — the on-court rules every team plays by, from game length and scoring to defense and equipment.

Game Length

  • QuartersGames are 4 quarters, 8 minutes per quarter.
  • SubsSubstitutions are mandatory at the 4-minute mark — and subs are not permitted until the 4-minute mark, which helps the game flow.
  • TimeoutsOne 30-second timeout per half is allowed.

Scoring

  • ScoreboardScore is kept until one team is up by 25 points. At that point the scoreboard is reset to 1–0 — to avoid embarrassment or discouragement — and score is kept again after the reset.
  • Foul ShotsA player fouled while shooting receives one free throw worth 1 point — whether or not the shot they were fouled on went in.
  • Foul LineThe foul line is adjusted according to the grade of the player.

Defense

  • StyleMan-to-man defense only. No zone defense.
  • MatchupsDefenders guard the opposing player with the same colored wristband.
  • HelpingA defender may leave the player they are guarding to stop the ball handler from scoring if the ball handler is unguarded.
  • DoublesNo double teaming — referees will do their best to call it. A double team that happens in transition while a player recovers to their own opponent is allowed, as long as the helping defender immediately returns to their own opponent once their teammate has recovered.
  • Team FoulsIn 3rd & 4th grade divisions, after 7 team fouls the opposing team shoots a free throw. Team fouls reset at the half.
  • Half CourtNo defense beyond half court — no full-court defense. After a defensive rebound, a steal, or a made basket taken out, the team bringing the ball up must be allowed to cross half court: the defense retreats to the other side of half court and does not play defense until the opposing team crosses.

Equipment & Calls

  • BallA 27.5″ basketball is used for K, 1st & 2nd grade divisions; a 28.5″ basketball for 3rd & 4th grade divisions.
  • Baskets8-foot baskets for K, 1st & 2nd grade divisions; 9-foot baskets for 3rd & 4th grade divisions.
  • ViolationsDouble dribbles and travels are called at the referees' discretion. This is a development league, and we want to teach players the proper way to play — not all double dribbles and travels will be called, but referees will call them when the violation gives the offensive team an advantage. As the official rules put it: if it never gets called, the players will never learn.

Questions, Answered

Everything families usually ask before signing up. Still stuck? Email rb3on3@gmail.com or call 208-260-1381.

Who can play RB3on3?

Boys and girls in grades K–4. Boys play in the fall league and girls play in the winter league. All skill levels are welcome — the girls league especially invites first-time players.

How much does it cost?

$60 per player, and that includes a team t-shirt. That's the whole cost — register through the registration form.

Where are games played?

All games are in Rexburg, Idaho. Boys games are at Hibbard Elementary School and South Fork Elementary School; girls games are at Hibbard Elementary School. See the Contact page for gym addresses and directions.

When are the games?

Always on Saturdays. Boys: November 7 – December 12, 2026, with no games on Thanksgiving weekend. Girls: January 9 – February 6, 2027. Game-by-game times are posted on each team page once teams are set.

How are divisions organized?

Divisions are formed after registration closes, based on how many players sign up and what's needed to form the league and its divisions — so grades and divisions may fluctuate. Players are generally grouped by grade, and some players or formed teams may play up a division. Both leagues are open to grades K–4.

Can my child sign up with a formed team?

Yes — individual or formed team registrations accepted. One rule: every player registers individually, even players who already have a team, so the league has each player's shirt size and family contact info. Individual sign-ups are placed on a team in their division.

Can my child also play in the Rexburg Rec league?

Yes. RB3on3 doesn't run at the same time as the Rexburg Rec league, so kids can play in both.

The boys league is full — can we still get in?

Join the waitlist through the registration form. Waitlist spots do open: this fall, when a division filled, new teams were formed from waitlist sign-ups.

When does girls registration close?

December 15, 2026. The girls season runs Saturdays, January 9 – February 6, 2027 at Hibbard Elementary, and all skill levels are welcome.

How do I register?

Fill out the league's registration form — it takes a few minutes per player. Start on the Register page.

I want to coach or volunteer. How do I help?

We'd love to have you. Email rb3on3@gmail.com or call 208-260-1381 and tell us which league and grade division you're interested in.
